The Component Obsolescence Management Partner Your Long-Life Systems Can Depend On
A single end-of-life component shouldn’t force a full system redesign. For teams supporting industrial electronics that need to run another ten years or more, GID is the partner who navigates the sourcing, qualification, and long-term supply so you don’t have to re-engineer around a part that’s no longer made.
No Retraining on New Systems
No Recertification With the Exact Part
A Global Network for Obsolete Component Sourcing
Qualified Drop-In Replacements
Reverse Engineering and Remanufacturing
Keep Critical Systems Running Without Rebuilding Them
There’s almost always a smarter path than re-engineering. Depending on what’s still available on the market and what your system needs, we source, substitute, or recreate, and we tell you honestly which one fits.
How Our Obsolescence Management Works
Tell Us What’s Going Obsolete
Send us the part, the system it lives in, the quantity you need, and how long you need it supported. Large-quantity or lifecycle requests are exactly what this service is built for.
We Map the Requirement
We build a complete picture: quantities, support timeline, and whether a compatible alternative is on the table. That scope shapes the right solution.
We Find or Recreate the Part
We run a global sourcing search and evaluate suitable replacements. If nothing fits, we assess reverse-engineering the component.
You Get a Free Evaluation Unit
We provide a sample at no charge, so you can put the proposed solution in front of your own team before anything is committed.
You Confirm It Works
You test the sample in your system and confirm the solution performs before we move to a full order. Nothing proceeds until you’re satisfied.
We Deliver and Support Long-Term
Once you validate, we deliver the full order and stand behind ongoing supply, including last-time-buy planning so you can lock in stock before it’s truly gone.
Trusted by Teams That Can’t Afford Downtime
From multinational plants to defence programmes, buyers come back to GID because we deliver when the part is critical and the pressure is on.
Obsolescence Management FAQs
Straight answers to the questions procurement teams and engineers ask most.
What is obsolescence management?
It’s the process of keeping a system running after one or more of its components reaches end-of-life. Rather than redesigning around a discontinued part, we source it, qualify a compatible replacement, or remanufacture it, so your equipment stays supported and in service.
When should I start an obsolescence project?
As early as possible. These engagements can run from six months to several years, and starting before your last unit fails gives us room to source the best solution and plan a last-time-buy. If a component is already flagged end-of-life, that’s the moment to reach out.
How is this different from standard parts sourcing?
Sourcing solves a single, immediate need. Obsolescence management is a strategic, long-horizon programme: we plan supply across the remaining life of your system, qualify alternatives, and support reorders over time. For a one-off hard-to-find part, our industrial parts sourcing service is the faster route.
Can you find a drop-in replacement if the exact part is gone?
Often, yes. We source and qualify pin-compatible components with the same form, fit, and function whenever possible. However, unlike an exact replacement, alternative solutions may require additional review or recertification.
What if the component can’t be sourced at all?
When the market is truly empty, we can reverse-engineer and remanufacture the board. When repair of an existing unit is the better path, our industrial repair services team can restore it instead.
Will a replacement affect my CE marking or EASA approvals?
That depends on the type of replacement. Exact replacement parts don’t require recertification, and sourcing the exact part is what we do every day. Drop-in replacements or remanufactured solutions may require additional validation or regulatory review. Our team will help you evaluate the best option for your application.
Do you offer last-time-buy support?
Yes. When a component is nearing its final production run, we help you scope and secure the right quantity to cover your projected lifecycle, so you’re not caught short later.
